In the hills of Himalaya there are some beautiful spots that attract the tourists from all over the world. One such famous destination is Chorabari Lake. This lake or Tal situated on Chorabari Bamak Glacier is also popularly known as Gandhi Lake or Chorabari Tal in the local area. Located at the height of 3900mts from sea level this lake is one of the popular tourist destinations between the Kedarnath and Kirthi Stambh. The serene beauty of the lake, crystal clean water, cool breeze and surrounding beauty of nature can make one enjoy some golden moments here.

 

Beautiful mountains covered with snow and cool atmosphere make one capture some wonderful images here. However, the tourists here are advised to get the pictures fast and see the beauty of nature in the morning time only as the weather here changes faster.

 

This lake is situated 4km from Kedarnath. The tourists here can enjoy the 14 km long trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund which is surrounded by lush green trees of Deodar, and Oak. There are also some waterfalls that can help one enjoy the trek with tremendous beauty provided to this area by the almighty. On the route of the ChorabariTal, there is abreathtaking waterfall. The Temple of Lord Kedarnath, one of the holiest temples for Hindus is situated here which is visited by thousands of pilgrimage.

 

The Chorabari Lake, also knownas Gandhi Lake, is a famous destination here. Situated close to the temple of Kedarnath, which is a Shiva Temple and center of faith for the Hindus. There are also some important points such as Bhairon Devta temple and Shankaracharya Samadhi which are also popular places among tourists. The tourists here can also check another lake that is Vasuki Tal. This mesmerizing lake is just at a distance of 6 km from Kedarnath.

 

There is no proper accommodation facility available at Gandhi Sarovar. Hence one needs to stay at Rishikesh or Kedarnath only. One can move from Rishikesh for Gaurikund with the help of taxi or bus. Rest of the 17 km can be covered by foot only. For the trekking lovers, this is the best area to explore.

 

How to reach:

To move here, there is the only roadway till Rishikesh. From there one needs to go on foot or by pony.

One can find the bus from Delhi as well as Meerut for Rishikesh.
